I know the basics of what raid is, but have never set one up, and I'm clueless of even how to get started, but I'm curious to know if it is possible to set up raid 0 using the onboard hard drive and the hard drive adapter for the bay. I may try it out if it is possible just to get the experience since I have a couple of extra drives lying around. Anyone know of any idiots guide to walk through it?

    I have a T60p

Some may want to know why I want to do it....well eventually I'll be building my new desktop, and I want raid 0 in it...so I want to know how before I start ordering parts.....The more you know....

RAID has to be supported on the Mobo which ThinkPads do not do.

Shouldn't it be 2 hard drives at least to have Raid ?
    I don't think Thinkpad has 2 HDD yet :D

Well now I've read on a different forum that the benefits of raid 0 are negligible. So I suppose it is pointless even trying.

the (general) purpose of raid 0 is faster access to media files during editing or live playback.
you system drive should never ever never be part of a raid 0 solution, just media storage
