...then order the IBM stickers from eBay, remove the Lenovo ones with a sharp knife and replace them with the IBM ones. I have tried that and I can say that the IBM stickers from eBay fit perfectly onto my T61. I bet they'd fit an R61, too.

Before you know it the IBM logo will be the way we recognize the OLD notebooks and the thinkpad sticker will tell us it's a NEW one.. :D

I think all "IBM" stickers have the same format. I'm not 100% positive, but I believe so. even on accessories.

For example, my minidock has an IBM sticker and irt is the same form factor/sticker as on the Thinkpads.

what bother doing this replacement? Show that the laptop
is a product of IBM, rather than Lenovo. I see nothing wrong
with Lenovo sticker. Everyone who knows something about laptops knows that T61 is a product of Lenovo anyway.

Actually, ThinkPad is a IBM product (Design & Engineering). Lenovo just bought the Rights to produce it.

The ThinkPad to most of the World is all IBM.

Don't get me wrong, Lenovo produces at Great ThinkPad T60/T61! Kinda like paying to be No. 1 in the Notebook business.

They could have bought Tohsiba or Acer! But they, like all the ThinkPad owners believed that IBM's Thinkpad Notebook is the most marketable (Quality workmenship, Style & History)!

    Just my .2 cents

    ThinkPad-On!!

Yea i don't understand what the big fuss over the stickers is about either....it's kind of like replacing the 5, with a 6, for a mercedes S class...making it a S600 from a S500 (ari gold in entourage)

that is about the worst analogy ever. It's more like if Mercedes decided to change the style of their logo and you decided to buy an old-style sticker. Changing the R61 sticker to a T61 sticker would be what you're talking about.

you are still putting an IBM sticker on something that is not IBM.......

here's a better analogy...this is like sticking a mercedes emblem on a chrysler...just because they bought them out, doesnt still make it a mercedes

The only difference is that Mercedes did not Design or Engineer a original Chrysler! They purchased the automaker to add their own Designs & Engineering (New Charger & 300).

Again Lenovo bought the ThinkPad notebook line that was already established (Designed & Engineered).

They are just reproducing (mass) Da Vinci's Mone Lisa! Does not matter how you put it together or paint-it up, the Mone Lisa is always going to be a Da Vinci. Not a Michael Angelo.

Once again, great marketing on Lenovo's part! And they have to be able to make or exceed the quality manuafacturing!

The ThinkPad is still a great product; but not as good as previous ThinkPads.

    Notebook-On!!

Lenovo bought the whole personal computer division, that means all the executives, designers, and technicians too...the paychecks were just being signed by Lenovo instead of IBM. A 5 year lease of the IBM name brand was included in the deal. While some of the original Thinkpad staff from the sale of the division may have gone on to better things now, Lenovo didn't just buy the name to slap on the old Legend computers. Remember that Lenovo was an ODM for the Thinkpad before the sale. How does anyone know if the Thinkpad line would be any better if IBM kept the business? Or if it would be exactly the same?

The market has changed and Lenovo has to cut corners to compete. I've seen and used the business lines from HP and Dell, and they are a huge improvement from what they were 4 years ago.

To me replacing the "Thinkpad" sticker with the classic "IBM" logo is more like when atheletes wear the throwback jerseys.

Lenovo bought IBM cuz IBM wasn't making much money off their PC division. Lenovo made it more consumer based, instead of just focusing on companies.

You probably missed this thread, " China's Lenovo will drop "IBM" logo earlier".

I just wonder if you buy thinkpad based on a sticker.

Thinkpads have made their mark by the way they look, not just from an IBM sticker..i just don't see what the fuss is about...and I do have an IBM sticker...when i walk in the library..i can spot a thinkpad from a 100 feet away..not by the sticker..but by the way it looks

Yea lenovo bought ibm...but they are designing it now...not IBM

    Eyecon82,

I agree. I believe the appeal is more on the Stylish Look vs. an "IBM" sticker.

I would have still purchased if only the "Lenovo" trademark was present. But knowing that It was from the original works.

I bought one of these stickers from ebay. They are probably knock offs, since the lenovo Thinkpad sticker is made of foil and much stiffer, the ones on ebay are plastic and are more flexible. nevertheless it looks ok.
