    Ok,

Here's the latest scoop for all those whose laptops are stuck in Louisville, KY. I called UPS and they told me the generic explanation of it being a customs issue. I then spoke to a manager. He was able to get more info. He found out that my package did not have an invoice. No wonder it's sitting there for 5 + days b/c they don't know who to ship it to. They told me to call Lenovo and have them fax the invoice to UPS so they can clear the package.

I hope this helps. Here's the UPS International # (1-800-782-7892)

that sounds so strange to me. if it doesnt have an invoice attached, wouldnt it be easy for an employee to swipe it?

an employee of whom? of UPS, customs or lenovo? there is probably a reference number that ensures the item cannot be stolen and if it was then they would have records to track down who might have taken it. sounds to me like lenovo sent it out, put up a tracking number but forgot to fill out the destination details so when they scan the tracking number, it comes up blank. also the lack of invoice also will not help them figure out if the package is exempt from customs or that customs have been paid.

and, if there is no invoice attached to the shipment, why can I see the "Shipped To" address in the UPS tracking information?

Ok, I got a call from the UPS International dept with the latest update. There's a shipment from Lenovo (about 300 items) that is currently being held at customs. They are working with Lenovo to get this cleared before the items are release. They are hoping it will be resolved by end of day and have it out tomorrow.

    Dude.

Customs totally freaking pisses me off. It adds like a week or two to ship dates. Why the hell are they even holding them for anyway? It's not like they're effing going to blow up!!!!!! No, they're not going to poison our dogs and cats, and no, it's not carrying the bird flu.

    morons.

    Five days? A week? Two?

So per UPS tracking, yours literally stayed in KY for two weeks?

calm down, Leon. i agree with his assessment of a week or 2. my x61s shipped from China on 7/6 (a Friday). It's been held at Kentucky since 7/7 (last SaturdaY). It still hasn't been shipped, and most likely won't ship until Friday or Saturday (at the earliest).

That's a week of just being held at Kentucky. Add to that the shipping time from Kentucky to California, and it'll most likely get here at Monday or Tuesday at the earliest. That's a week and 2-3 days. EARLIEST.

And you can count the shipping time from Kentucky to CA as being time added on, because the two previous lenovo laptops i ordered in the past 6 months shipped from China and arrived the next day, even though i ordered ground shipping.

I've had lots of lenovo problems, luckily shipping hasn't been one (yet). Sorry to hear of your guys' delays.

he was saying that customs was adding a week or two to ship dates. he was not saying that it was being held for two weeks in Kentucky. according to my experience, his estimate was exactly on target.

but yeah, not trying to create any tension. dang... stupid delays makes everybody unhappy. :(

I got the latest update from UPS International this morning. They have cleared all the packages that were stuck in KY as of last night. It should be out for delivery this morning. At least that's what it's showing for me. Good luck everyone

Pretty much all packages from lenovo get held by a customs brokerage for a certain amount of time. Usually a few hours or day max, unless theres a problem with documentation.

I wonder if these contain any Qualcomm wireless components. Considering they just lost their patent suit with Broadcom, certain key Qualcomm wireless chips are banned from import. Just a thought.

Mine was shipped 8/8, hit kentucky probably on Monday the 13, then it got to my place in Ohio on the 15.

Keep in mind the first time it says it's being held in KY doesn't mean it's actually there, it means it's probably where it's going and it's still in the air over China or something.

This sucks. I thought my order was going well until it hit Louisville. They had the same "THE SHIPMENT IS BEING HELD BY BROKERAGE FOR REASONS BEYOND UPS' CONTROL" message. It then went to ANCHORAGE, AK and now has the description of: " IMPORT SCAN" back in Louisville.

The rescheduled delivery went from 9/22 to 23rd and now to 24th. Hope this doesnt continue.

tkkg: Read my message. It wasn't actually in Alaska after KY, it was on its way to KY, went through alaska, then made its way to KY. you'll get it after that, however long it'd take for them to get to KY to your neck of the woods.
