I am running XP home. I have the express upgrade to Vista Home Premium from Moduslink. If I do this upgrade, is there an easy way to revert back to XP home if I don't like the way Vista is running? I can probably backup or something, but wanted to hear it from the experts.

it should be very simple if you did not delete your recovery partition, since all you would have to do is use the Rescue and Recovery feature (outside of windows, of course) to restore your laptop to factory condition.

if you wanted to revert back to the exact condition it is in before your upgrade (with all your programs installed and such), i think it will require a backup. it SHOULD be fairly easy to do using the rescue and recovery console, but then again, i've never done it, so i don't want to say with 100% confidence.

My feeling is that if I do a backup right before the upgrade, I would assume then that I can revert back to this point right? If anyone knows for certain, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

I'm in the process right now of performing a dual boot XP/Vista install.

Give me a few hours and I'll let you know how it goes.

I agree, take a backup with recovery and restore just before onto an external hard drive, or do it onto recovery disks I think so that if you want to go back to the old version you can use that.

I have the lenovo recovery disks sent to me after I had a crash that corrupted the recovery partition on the hard drive, I never made my own. So in my case, if I ever want to be absolutely sure I can get a proper recovery I would first use my disks which completely restores the entire hard drive, hidden partition and all and THEN would use recovery and restore to get my backup from (in my case) an external hard drive that I use.

So either make those recovery disks first or get lenovo to send you some like mine, then you are guaranteed to get everything back the way they were.

    Good luck with it.
