    Hey guys,

I've been having a problem getting the Ultrabay in my y510p to recognize the 250GB 840 I just bought along with a generic HDD caddy that apparently worked for multiple y500 users (according to the reviews on its Amazon page).
I have the SLI version, so fortunately I was able to take the mounting bracket off of the second 750m and attach it to the caddy.

When I go into Device Manager, the SSD is recognized under Disk Drives along with the primary 1TB HDD. However, when I go to My Computer, nothing shows up. I have already made sure that Windows is not hiding empty drives.
If anyone has any inkling as to what I might do to remedy the situation it'd be greatly appreciated.

Did you format the drive (By going into Disk Management) and assign a drive letter? That seems to be your case.

(im glad the hardware is recognized, looks like the caddy works :p)

Thanks guys, this is my first SSD (as I just made abundantly clear  ) so I'm grateful for the hand holding.

To make my intentions more clear, my goal is to have the 840 currently in the caddy become the boot drive in the primary hard drive spot, with the 1TB HDD swapped into the caddy for general storage purposes.

Since Windows 8 was pre-installed and I do not have a valid license key, I am planning on just cloning the drive via something like Clonezilla. Is this something I can feasibly do?

Yes, but im no expert in this. Generally, you want to open disk management and go to the Hard drive containing the Windows 8 OS. Then, shrink the HDD to fit the SSD in size. Then, use a tool like Clonezilla to clone the HDD to the SSD, once the cloning is done, erase and format the HDD. After this, you *might* want to allocate the HDD to the caddy since the SDD will be used as the boot drive, and not as semi-removeable media.

    Heres a tutorial:

(note, it says Windows 7 but this applies to Vista/8 too)
