Lenovo has put up the the Ideapad y470p for 799 again. The catch is the shipping time to get one is more than 4 weeks. With the newer models y480 and y580 coming out do you think it is worth it? According to some sites they may be out in April 2012. The sales rep I talked to on the lenovo site said the y480 may be out in May 2012 and y580 in June 2012. Opinons? Still undecided on whether I should purchase.

    Thanks.

I noticed the ship times are now out to a month, you can probably thank the hard drive shortage for that. The May/June time frame is probably more accurate than April for a Y480 to actually ship, and there is the risk that hard drive shortages will persist and you'll have the same lead time for a custom built laptop at that time too. Which would push actually getting one into July (worst case). If you're in the market and could use the Y470p now, I'd order it. The price is certainly nice and when new laptops with new processors are released they take awhile to go on sale.

Ordered mine on Saturday (2/11)...and it's arriving today (2/16).

My estimated ship date was the 2/24 fyi, I think they over-estimate on purpose.

I decided on ordering it. The estimated ship date turned out to be 3/26, so I hope they really over-estimated this one. The other products such as the i5 version do not have such a high ship time. There must have been so many orders from the last time it was on sale that they are still trying to catch up with demand.

I e-mailed their websales to see if I can get a lower end HDD to get it processed faster.

    Thanks for your responses.

I asked a sales person at Lenovo about the Y480 and Y580, they said its now estimated at August.

I decided to skip it and just go with Y470P, doubt the Y480 is going be that huge of an upgrade to worry about.

Also looks like they extended the $799 till March 7th
