So I have decided to buy the Lenovo Ideapad Y550 (any thoughts on that?), and I was wondering if I should get the 1, 2, or 3 year warranty with accident protection? I have heard with companies like Dell, its cheaper to just get the 1 year and wait for Dell to give you and offer to extend your warranty for a cheaper price? Does it work like that with Lenovo? Thanks in advance.

lenovo ideapad line 's warranty is cheapest I have ever seen.
only 100+ extra you can get 2 year in-home warranty with ADH.
I think the ideapad warranty is different from thinkpad.
I really enjoyed thinkpad's warranty, which is 3 ways overnight.
I don't know how someone claim thinkpad warranty sucks.
But from my personal experience, dell's in home warranty is great, but mail in is terrible.
To repair a buisness class laptop usually takes 2 week include shippping, and you also have to drop off your package!!! which is not frendly for me .
Last time , I tried to ask replace a min9 screen because the pixels in middle of screen was stucked, it took me 1 and half months to get it done. -
BTW, Dell's depot warranty only offer a ground service when you ship your system to them, which means if you live CA, it usually takes around 5-6 business for fedex deliver.

The warranty guide might be worth a look.
