Hello, I'm currently in the market of a new laptop. I saw the Z510 model is I'm quite attracted by it's looks and design. The problem with this model is that it doesn't come with a SSD within all the listed options, so I'm planning on replacing the HDD with a SSD after the purchase. My concern is that since this model is relatively new hence there's no tutorials out there showing how to replace the HDD. I'm wondering if this model shares the same chassis as the Z500 since there are videos for this particular model about replacing the HDD.
This model (59400180) is currently on sale for $800 now until 10/16. Do you guys think I should get it now, or wait until Thanksgiving?
Here are the main specs:
I7 4700HQ
8GB Ram
1TB HDD
1080P Screen
Non touch screen

The Z510 uses the exact same chassis as the Z500. Just use this guide:

It's in german but you get the point.
The only advantage of waiting until thanksgiving is if you wanna buy some of the 40 series Thinkpads, but they don't offer the value you would get from the Z510, a similarily specced T540p would cost you around 1100-1200$. But if you need the extra build quality then that's up to you.
Lenovo sales last forever. Trust me, they do. I got my Lenovo for like 800$ in June and they still retail for the same price to this day.
Speaking of which, the Y510p is an option, because for only 150$ more you get a nice dGPU and a 24GB Solid State drive. Very similar design, but black/red and a little chunkier.
Also, Z510 has an MQ not HQ CPU. Which means it is not soldered and can be upgraded or downgraded.xxlap1xx likes this. -
Thanks for the info! I think I'mma pull the trigger on one soon!

If you tipe in lenovo z510 manual in Google you will find the manual and you need to download it than you will see how to take it apart it looks simple and you can replace the HD .
I like to buy this as well but with the i5 CPU the 1080 screen has a 300 nits brightness sounds good to me . it also comes with a Intel HD 4600
I can't find any reviews
I think this compares well with the dell 7000 15 inch model for less money with high res screen ,which is not available with dell at the moment. -

I did check out the y510p model I'm not a gammer so I think the z510 would be enough with the i5 cpu for some photo editing
Is that the one you got the y510p if so how you like the screen ?
Thanks
John

My bets are that the Z510 screen is the same as the y510p, in that case it should be fine for all non-professional photoshop (professional required 95% gamut).
