My Touchscreen just crapped out on me... anyone else have this issue?

One day while on and while in use for a while, the screen just started registering false touches all over one complete verticle line as if it was malfunctioning. I closed the lid and re-opened it... I was never able to fix it until I found the input device in the device manager and Disabled it. I've rebooted several times and tried power settings, etc. but all to no avail. I haven't had much time to further experiment.

FYI, I bought mine from BB on release day in October and added 4gb and a second 128ssd. It's been running perfect for over six months, now no touch!

There is a problem which is, if Yoga is used in tablet mode, the air vents face towards to the yoga user and blow the user with hot air.

Is there any solution for that?

And what are the common problems of yoga so far?

When using my Yoga in tablet mode I hold it with the vents and hinges turned away from me (no vents blowing in my face - yeah, the Windows button is at the top but everything works fine).

Actually, I saw a review saying about that problem, so I asked. So the accelerameter turns the display automatically when you use tn Tab mode and the vents stay at the opposite side of your face?

Well, I shipped my Yoga in to support to get the Touchscreen fixed. (see post above). I even have the 2yr in home warranty, but they claim that the touchscreen can only be repaired by them in depot... I've read it's because there is a known flaw in the supposed motherboard firmware regarding power regulation that's not part of the BIOS and they will only fix themselves, not release a tool for that firmware. Who knows if that's real.

FYI, I'm using my old U300s while the Yoga is away... I miss the so excellent quality screen on the Yoga and the so much better track pad! I'll never be able to go back to lowres and low nit brightness. That said, I have missed the alluminum and excellent build quality of the U300s. Pair those two together and we'd have maybe the perfect laptop!! ...add backlit keyboard though.

Any updates on the wireless card being upgradable or the new drivers fixing problems? I saw that there was a new fan driver on another site. Getting my yoga tomorrow from the recent "doorbusters" deal on the outlet. I hope they don't give me a lemon of a re-manufacture!

FYI, I received my repaired Yoga exactly 7 days from when shipped... pretty quick considering shipping was ground both ways. They installed a new screen, everything works perfectly!

I was able to play with the Ideapad 11S today and the sales person allowed me to run few benchmarks on it. No one has tested out the i7 3689Y processor I have posted them on my personal blog. Below are the crystalmark and PCmark 7 results.

I just installed the Windows 8.1 Preview... it's pretty awesome, but the display is all messed up... it says my drivers are fine, and still at 1600x900, I've adjusted, but it's grainy and huge font. Anyone else in this situation?

I have the 8.1 Preview on my Sony Vaio S15 and have no issues like that. However I obviously don't have a touchscreen, which could have something to do with it.

Major bummer. Hopefully it has better antennas than the Yoga 13. Certainly it'll mean no WiDi.

Well, damn. My touch screen is having problems for the second time. I sent it in to Lenovo support and they replaced the entire LCD... it worked perfectly for one month, now I'm experiencing the same problem. Erratic touching down one consistent vertical line about three inches from the left... so much that touch is completely non-responsive and the computer is not usable until HID touch is disabled from the Device Manager.

I'm on 8.1 preview, with an added 8gb RAM and second 128gb ssd. When I have time, I'll do a reinstall back to 8.0 and remove the addins... see if it's still an issue. This thread has been pretty dead... any others with this issue?

    Greetings,

New owner - just purchased my Yoga 13 yesterday. Beautiful machine.

Is there a FAQ anywhere online or in this huge thread that can help on:
    1. What bloatware to first uninstall?
    2. What bios/firmware to upgrade and what not to?

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Thanks,
    UL

I hate to say it, but this thread is your best bet. Everything from manually adding a second solid state drive, to memory updating, wifi fixing, hard drive space, partitioning, etc... just scattered among 112 painful forum pages...

    Hello,

After realizing that my computer needs nowdays really come down to note taking and comfort while using in bed, the Ideapad with touchscreen (Intel Core i5-3517U version) seems like a good solution and I can get a moderately used one for a seemingly great price point. (used $500)

I have a couple of questions; I will be scouring through this thread for answers too, but any help would be great.

    1) I've seen somewhere that someone said it comes with a mSATA SDD and that leaves another empty bay. Is this bay capable of fitting a 2.5' SSD/HDD or only another mSATA drive?
    2) How is the keyboard for typing?
    3) How is the screen quality/touch screen?
    4) How is the heat output?
    5) Do you think this system could run DotA2 (any settings acceptable)

    Thank you!

You are correct - there is an additional mSATA slot in the Yoga. Only a mSATA drive will fit - a 2.5 will not. See this page for the right hardware and method to upgrade: How to Upgrade Memory and Storage on the Lenovo Ideapad Yoga 13 - VMtoday.

I have no problems with the keyboard. It is a bit narrow, so my fingers took a day or two to get used to it, but no problems typing now.

    Screen quality is great.

Heat output is normal. The i5 can generate a heat load, but the Yoga does a decent job of dealing with it.

    It should handle DOTA2.

    Well said...

I should add, there have been a few complaints from other users that the fans run constantly. They are not super loud, there's no high-pitch to them or plasticy or metal sound... just like air moving and fans blowing, constantly. There have been rumors of a future BIOS update that will add auto fan speed, similar to other laptops, but nothing yet.

As for the Keyboard, Lenovo is the best in the business. The Yoga has arguably the best keyboard of all Ultrabooks according to most reviewers like Engadget, TheVerge, etc. That's why I got one.

Also, the screen is Excellent. I never realize how poor 1366x768 is... the 1600x900 resolution is excellent on the Yoga... also the brightness at 300nits is excellent. Touch is very good, full 10 point capacitive touch. The screen may be my favorite thing about the Yoga... It's ruined me, I'll never be able to go backwards.

... I'm new here but I think like you. Is the best ultrabook.

I have a Core i5 , 2 SSD 256 GB and 8 GB RAM. No noise fan and every things are ok.

I made a multible booting, upgrading BIOS.

Running at this time Mountain Lion 8.3, Win 7 and Win 8.by choosing at the boot, and I have to say that all the system works perfectly, except for Mountain Lion whitn no WiFi. No big deal USB Wifi Port save this problem.

Now I´m testing with Androidx86 and believe me, works nice.

So, Is the best machine for me.

Whew... FYI in case this helps anyone else.

I have a core i5 128gb Yoga that I added 8gb and a second 128gb SSD (crucial M4 mSata from Amazon). Out of the blue, my second SSD just disappeared... was nowhere to be found, not in Explorer, not in device mgr or disk management. I removed it, plugged it in a USB enclosure I have and the drive appeared just fine through USB. I ran chkdsk, etc.

Anyway, it's finally fixed and being recognized properly... all thank you to this thread Why did my SSD "disappear" from my system? - Crucial Community from Crucial.com.

    New here.
I have a Yoga 11s coming Friday, so questions:
Any recommendations for 64 or 128 gig SD cards? I'd like to avoid compatibility/driver issues, if there are any.
    Any recommendations for a stylus?
Any recommendations for a case/sleeve? The Lenovo cover? Something else?

    Thanks in advance.

Anyone find a good solution to the wifi card problem yet? I've tried messing around with the different drivers, changing the power settings, and changing the driver settings but still no luck. Is there a way to replace it perhaps? I've tried a USB to Ethernet as well but the yoga doesn't seem to well with it either.

    2 things:

    1. Check in your advanced power settings that "Wireless Network" is always set to Maximum Performance. Always.
    2. Check your driver, I have 1021.2.904.2012 and it works fine. No issues.
    3. Check your router...it may be at fault.

Now for a question of my own. What graphics driver is everyone using? There are brand new drivers out, but apparently installing them will really mess with the Tablet aspect of the Yoga. Any ideas? (See link below)

I had an issue with the audio drivers when upgrading to Windows 8.1. Any Windows Media Player file would not play at all, and any flash videos would play without audio. I downloaded the Conexant audio driver (version 8.54.47.51 from their website), uninstalled the driver provided by Windows 8.1, restarted, and installed the downloaded 8.54.47.51. This worked for me, but if this doesn't, there is a newer driver they published that may help. Click here for it.

Does anyone know a good and cheap matte screen protector for this? I can't handle the glare anymore, and I'd like to try using a pen. Any help is appreciated. There's a good $30 one on Amazon, but they say it's nearly impossible to put on and I don't want to waste $30 on nothing. Please help!!!

I had audio after the 8.1 upgrade, but my Diablo 2 wouldn't play ANY audio at all. I thought it was an issue with Diablo 2 and 8.1, I spent a couple of hours searching for that before I figured that maybe it was the Yoga 13 itself...this fixed it.

Does anyone have the Ideapad Yoga 11 (Windows RT version) any good (non-RT related) feedback about it? I am very tempted at getting this on the $300 deal ( Convertible Laptop & Tablet | Ideapad Yoga 11 | Lenovo (US)).

I am quite aware of the limitations of RT and am willing to make them for battery life and portability. I have a desktop system I can remote into to do my non-RT tasks (using low latency splashtop) which is why I am not as concerned about it being a RT operating system.. I'm mostly concerned with the build quality, keyboard quality, and performance it has in RT type of applications (web browsing, office, etc..).

Also any feedback on if they run hot or noisy when in use (one of my complaints about my toshiba lately) would be very beneficial.

I was also tempted by the 11 inch Tegra 3 laptop. After doing enough research I've decided it just doesn't have enough juice to be worthwhile. Office RT is essentially a straight port of office for RT, no optimizations,it's o.k. for word and basic spreadsheets, but not much more.

I have an atom based netbook and have found it's capabilities are marginal, it struggles with heavy flash based web pages. The Tegra 3 chip isn't much of an upgrade. If you're expecting laptop like capability, it will keep you wanting.

All that said, I decided to go with the Yoga 13 instead. It's a bit more, but figured I would be let down by anything that a i Core CPU. There's the Yoga 13S that also has an iCore chip if you really want the smaller form factor.

    What deal??

edit: Oh, this $599 deal on a refurbished original Yoga 13, i5 128gb Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13 59RF0142 Ultrabook Convertible Laptop Computer With 133 Touch Screen Display 3rd Gen Intel Core i5 Processor Refurbished by Office Depot Looks like a good deal, but the new Yoga 2 is SO much more advanced, I'd encourage anyone tempted to spend a little more for a much better later generation Yoga 2 Pro.

I can see why you would make the recommendation, but I'd think at least some people would be pretty excited about the price difference.

Granted, the machine is more advanced, but the Yoga is pretty close to the Yoga 2 Pro. I'd say the biggest difference is the pixel density, but at 13.3 inches, I don't know that really matters.

I've been searching for options to care for the keyboard when in tablet or presentation mode. Only thing I've really seen is the one sleeve offered by Lenovo which most people aren't too excited about.

Anyone know of any good options to protect the keyboard in these modes?

Any recommended ways for removing or hiding them?
