No stock in any of the Bay Area stores and BB.com did stop shipping these about a week before Thanksgiving. It would be interesting to know what the plan is for the i5/4GB/128GB models.

I've noticed Lenovo.com doesn't have that combo available any longer. The have i3/4gb/128 and i5/8gb, etc...

I remember when the U300s (1 yr ago) was released it was similar to this; the first round all sold out and the second round just never showed up; it just disappeared. They then released the 310 and 410 which are sub-standard compared to the U300s... Wonder if it'll be a post-CES Yoga2, better or worse?

This is my country, I call them today and they said that the laptop is in the stock. It is 4700/3,17 = 1490 but this price included vat tax(23%).

Will Yoga come with backlit keyboard any time soon? Does Lenovo have any interest? Know anything?

It would have to be in a future version if at all. Concessions to the keyboard design were made because of the 360 hinge and over sized touchpad. I don't see back lighting a possibility until Yoga 2, if there is one.

Just for your information, I have been trying to get second msata ssd for a couple of weeks now, but I didn't want to spend 200$ in the 256gb version as it seemed to me to much. After a hard and long wait, amazon and neweeg have dropped their prices up to 169.99 with free shipping!! I supposed someone here would find it as interesting as me. I already ordered mine.

By the way, did anybody reach to install ubuntu with success on this machine? All posts regarding this topic have disappeared. I tried just the live load and get the same problems that everybody was claiming: no wi-fi and no possibility of modifying the contrast.

Yep, but the Orange ones on the Lenovo site are still showing 4+ weeks. :( So I ordered a silver one from BB. Hopefully this one won't have the problems the one I returned did, because I really like the design of this thing.

No, Best Buy has the silver ones on their site. If you order it, the status says "Usually ships in 3-5 days," even if you order it Express. So my guess is they're actually en-route to Best Buy's online store but not actually yet in stock.

Which might mean more in the brick-and-mortar stores in the next week or so, too.

Three orange models on Lenovo site
    Yoga 13 | Lenovo | (US)

Showing ship date of 12/20 now... better than "more than four weeks"! ...to everyone out there, from someone who's ordered from both Lenovo and BB, use a third party if you can. It will save many a headache.

Hey guys, just wanted to let you know I was able to custom order a Yoga through Best Buy.

I spoke with a manager at my local Best Buy, apparently the best way to get ahold of something that's running out of stock so quickly is to place an order for it with the store.

For some reason this is completely different from online ordering and you may be able to place an order even if the item is out of stock right now at that store and unavailable for shipping online.

So call/show up at your local Best Buy and ask customer service if they can place an order for you, it's the most likely way you're going to find one. (In my experience so far)

    There are basically two issues:
    * With a Yoga that's working as designed, the fans are always on. So this means there's always a little fan noise. However, it's very quiet, and only really noticeable in a silent room.
    * Some yogas have fan shields that rub against the blades. (This is a hardware problem, not as designed.) These are much louder, and either emit a buzz as the fans are on, or buzz if you tilt the Yoga. This is a defect, and can be addressed by opening the Yoga and bending the shield away from the fan, or by having the Yoga repaired. Some people with this problem didn't realize that not all Yogas sound like this, thus their incredulity when they'd hear others say the fan noise didn't bother them. :)

My Yoga developed the 2nd noise and I would be more than happy to go back to the first one (was just a gentle whooshing of air)! Unfortunately I bought it in the US and am living in Ireland - Lenovo say that it should be covered by an International warranty once it launches over here on the 15th. If it isn't I guess I'll fix it myself as am fairly competent when it comes to laptop repairs.

I have my Yoga with me much of the day and the fan noise doesn't bug me at all, to me it is within normal limits for such a device.

Short TLDR Version: How do you snap the keyboard back on solidly after upgrading the memory/SSD?

Longer Version: Question for you guys who've upgraded the RAM/SSD: Was the keyboard as solid after you reinstalled it?

I returned my previous Yoga due to a hardware failure (the rotation sensor would stop working after it had been on for a while) and got my new one today. I haven't added the memory/SSD to the new one yet.. But when I upgraded the previous Yoga, when I put the keyboard on, it had some "bounce" in the center -- it wasn't being held down as solidly as before.

As I looked at it, I could see some clips that looked like they snapped into the RF shield. But though I tried to press down on those spots, it was still "loose" in the center. So I figure there's some art to snapping the keyboard back on and having it be solidly held in place and not bouncy in the center. Any tips?

It has an ambient light Sensor, 3-axis accelerometer, 3-axis gyroscope, and compass - no GPS, but Windows 8 does have built-in Windows Location Provider, using WiFi triangulation and IP address information, and it seems to work pretty well from what I have seen.

Bummed, just returned my Yoga and it really felt like it was a luck of the draw thing. My issues were screen bleed in the left bottom corner that creeped up to about the size of a fingernail and significant flex on the right half of the keyboard. The display model had almost no flex, or at least was within reasonable limits. Better consistency in the backlight and a keyboard as solid as the display model and the Yoga would still be mine, bummer.

Two things with the keyboard. First, to properly reseat it, you should sit it down when it is like 1/4" above (towards the screen) where it will eventually sit, push it down firmly to seat all the snaps, then slide it down the rest of the way.

The second thing is that I think unless you replace the double sided tape that was compromised when opening it up, you will always have a little more play in the keyboard than it originally had.

Anyone found a good quality double stick that is effective? The generic Scotch stuff doesn't have much "grab" to it and the better tapes like 3M trim tape and similar are foam backed and subsequently too thick to allow the keyboard to all the way seat.

I agree with your synopsis of the issue, but I'm looking for a viable tape. The keyboard not being fully seated and moving when pressing certain keys is annoying to say the least. Seems to be more prevalent in the area of the "O" where there's really not a lot to attach to since the fan openings are right in that area.

Second Yoga's running smooth as silk. Upgraded to 8GB RAM and 384GB of SSD space. Loving it now that I have one that works! :)

It is a luck of the draw thing. I had to return my first Yoga because the rotation sensor would stop working after it had been on for an hour or so, and the keyboard/touchpad would randomly stop working until I close/opened the notebook. My new one is functioning perfectly. (And it has a more solid keyboard than the first one did, even prior to my opening it.)

Given the frustration I had with the first one, I was hesitant to try another one. But I'm glad I did. This one works as advertised so far, and has a more solid keyboard. Now that I'm using it instead of trying to troubleshoot it in futility, I'm really glad I gave it another shot.

Yeah, the problem was that I didn't realize you needed to press the keyboard down as you slid it downwards back into place. Now that the tabs are solid, my keyboard isn't bouncing. Thanks for the tips, everyone!

Is anyone else experiencing a high frequency intermittent whine (not fan noise) coming from the vents? It's probably in the range of 10 to 15 khz and is incredibly distracting. This problem has been known to plague a few core ix chips of all makes; however, some makes of laptop are more prone than others.

I moved to a second yoga 13 and am still suffering from the same problem. I will probably have to do another exchange, but first I want to see if anyone else has been dealing with this issue or if there is some sort of fix?

A little research showed me that the whine may be the result of poor energy management and can be fixed by not allowing the cpu to idle. But, this heats up the laptop in a matter of seconds and the roaring fans make that not a viable solution.

Hope someone out there can help!

Sounds like a bad fan motor to me, brushed motors make the sound you're describing when they've gone bad.

I would do another warranty replacement.

Anyone test the scores with geekbench?
I have my Yoga 13 w/4GB ram sitting next to my Macbook 13 Retina 8GB.
I actually don't really are for retina compared to the yoga.

The yoga is an itch longer.
Not sure which one I should take to school because it has to go to school and back everyday as well as survive being opened and closed on a daily bases.

Spend $39 and upgrade the Yoga to 8GB, then use it; it's still $700 cheaper, so if you bang it up and have to replace it, less money invested. Seriously though, the Yoga hinges have stood up to some pretty brutal testing. I'd say it really comes down to subjective preference.

I am having a problem where the WiFi drops out completely every few hours. I will be online (at my law school in the library with dozens of other people on their Macbooks not losing connection) and I will suddenly be offline and not able to recognize networks. Resetting the network connection does not work, disabling and re-enabling the wireless interface does not work (in fact, once it is disabled and after enabling it, it still shows up as disabled), and letting Windows troubleshoot and repair the connection does not work (it blames it on the router). Rebooting fixes it. Uninstaling and Reinstalling the driver has not made a difference. I have tried uninstalling some programs I have recently installed to see if they were causing a problem in some way, as maybe their Windows 8 compatibility is not quite solid, yet, perhaps.

Is anyone else having similar issues? It's very frustrating to have to reboot every couple of hours in the middle of studying for law school exams all day.

You are certainly not alone: yoga 13 wifi issues - Lenovo Community
From what everyone says, it's a software/driver issue... that means it's fixable. Hopefully Lenovo/Realtek will release a new better update soon.

I had problems like you after upgrading to the most recent version, but rolling back to the original wifi drivers fixed my problem.

Which driver are you using?, try the original driver. I only lost connection when the signal was weak, and a disconnect and re-connect always worked.

I should add that the Yoga's NIC more so than they keyboard keeps me from just going out and replacing the unit I returned (due to considerable keyboard flex and screen bleed/clouding in one corner).

Thank you for pointing that out. But am I the only one who notices that, as of Tuesday night on 12/11/2012, the i5 128 GB SSD w/ 8 GB of RAM is the same price as the i7 with 256 GB SSD?

4 GB of RAM cannot be so expensive to justify such a huge price difference between these models. How is Best Buy not loosing money on this?

Oh well, better for us while supplies last. I had an order in with Lenovo for the Clementine Orange, but if Best Buy can deliver before next week, I will definitely switch to them, and save around $50 in the end even after adding the extra 4GB of RAM.

They are charging $400 more than the base model for an extra 4GB of RAM, that's a gold mine for them if people buy it. Seems like a pricing mistake to me.

I guess they are relying on unsophisticated buyers not knowing that they can easily add the extra 4GB of RAM by themselves. But the fact that the i7 with 256 GB SSD is the same price would be a dead give away for me ....

OK, thanks for the heads up. I just ordered the Lenovo Ultrabook 13.3" TouchScreen Laptop 4GB Memory 256GB Solid State Drive YOGA 13 - 59340247 - Best Buy. After it arrives I will order a second 256GB mSATA and 8GB RAM. At the end of my order it said I should be able to pick it up in the store on December 15th (we will see). Yeah, the 15th is my birthday so this will be great.

How quite are the ones that are quite? I just got mine and hear the fan/air noise thats on all the time. It doesn't seem louder then my sony s15 i5. And I dont hear any clicking, but I can definitly hear the air noise humming sound. Now I dont know if i'm just listening to hear it, or my yoga is actually loud. Since I can watch tv and most of the time tune out the fan, but when its on my lap the yoga fan is never drowned out.

    Hi,

I can not really decide which way to take so I will ask you that own one of my option what you think.

    Option 1: Buy one 8gb Vaio Serie Z // VPC-Z23Z9EB // 256 Gb HD 1.2 kg (touch window wih Win8)
    Option 2: Buy one Acer S7 ( 13" / 4GB / 128Gb HD ) 1.3 Kg (touch window wih Win8)
    Option 3: Buy one Lenovo Yoga ( 256 Gb / 8gb ) 1.52 Kg (touch window wih Win8)

Option 1 is more expensive but gives maybe better computer.
Option 2: gives not to heavy computer but bad battery time
Option 3: Heavy but better touch feelings.

I wonder if you use a lot the touch function in Win8 ?

    Thanks for the help

I believe it is the original driver. Same as the driver on the lenvovo driver matrix dated October fr the original release:

    Driver Version: 1021.2.904.2012

what would be the best program to clone the 128gb msata ? I want to clone it to my 1TB HDD just to have it safely stored and then go bacj and reformat the msata and install fresh copy of WIn8 so I can add the pro pack for windows media center option.....

I'm still in love with my Yoga, and every time I wander into a Best Buy I go look for their display to see how prominent it is. I was a little horrified when I saw this one. BB really needs to find a different way to attach their security cable to convertible laptops. D:

I think that was the one I was using, only upgraded the video and touchpad driver. I'm not sure if I'm imagining this but it seemed like the Yoga wouldn't always stay attached to the nearest AP for a given SSID.
