Well, with a solid state drive out of the box, the Yoga will seem faster, but the Y510p is faster in terms of actual computing performance.

This being said, you are comparing a gaming laptop to an ultraportable.

And neither is as reliable as a X/T/W series Thinkpad.

Among the X, T, and W series which one is the fastest and the best of everything? I am looking to get one that can handle everything from work to fun that I throw at it. Price is not an issue for me but I just want to get it from Lenovo.

Between those two only, the Y510p will be substantially more powerful, but in my experience, the Yoga 2 Pro will be better built/feel more premium.

Define your requirements first. For heavy gaming and fast computing, Y510p is the one. Yoga 2 pro's VGA is integrated and the processor has lower performance because it's ULV processor type, yoga is more for mobility and presentation usage because it's lightweight and can do "yoga". Also the display resolution is better.

Thinkpad series is for professional work, not really much for gaming or fun probably. In T/X/W series, the best gaming VGA is in T440p/T540p with Nvidia GT 730M. But from all thinkpad series, currently E440/E540 has the best gaming VGA: Nvidia GT 740M (64 bit version though). However they are still inferior to Y510p's Nvidia GT 755M.

Well like I said earlier that I want it to be multi purpose play hard and work hard. I want it to be able to handle hard work and play that I throw at it.

How does Y510P SLI compare to W530?

Then Y510p might suit you. The only weakness is weight and battery life.

W530/W540 is for workstation usage. The discrete VGA is not nvidia geforce but nvidia quadro, not really suitable for gaming.
