I'm totally new to using a laptop, so please be gentle. I recently purchased a Lenovo U460S and there is a "button" on a strip beneath the monitor which is lit up. The manual says it's the GPU switchable button. What is the benefit of having this turned on? Will this help me with saving power and lengthen my time between battery charges, or will keeping it on make the battery run out faster?
Thanks in advance for any info or advice.

Light on: Powerful GPU and less battery life
Light off: Less powerful GPU and more battery life.
What type of tasks do you normally do on your laptop? -
I use it mainly to surf the web.

You should never really need the power of the dedicated GPU.(Light on) You would only need it if you game or are a heavy graphic user.

Thank you. I'll turn it off.
