The Ideapad S10-3 is going for 359.00 USD on Lenovo's website, while the exact same model branded by Toshiba is going for 249.00 USD on Newegg (w/ free shipping). The total difference comes out to 110.00 USD.
How many of you would still get the Ideapad?

most of the netbooks are JDM/ODM products, so there is very little difference in terms of overall quality between brands.
But rather the branding, the aftersale support and warranty support network is different. But whether that is worth 100 USD more on netbook is arguable.
Personally i would have just as well have bought Acer Netbook over the ideapad netbook, provided the price difference is there. I know Lenovo support network better than Acer, but it is not going to be 100 or 200 AUD better. So if there is 100 dollars difference i would go with the other brand.
But for actual fully fledged laptop, i would stick with Thinkpads, because i am so used to the fit and finish, softwares, ports layout, support, etc. -
Netbooks are netbooks, they're all the same. And manufacturer support is largely the same, hit or miss based on who you talk to. So it's best to go with the best deal.
Don't forget that the s10-3 probably comes with a 6 cell battery at that price while the nb305 probably has a 3 cell.
edit: turns out it has a 6 cell and is already one of the best reviewed netbooks, where as ideapad netbooks have always under acheived on battery life. No reason not to get the toshiba. -
I have the S-1o 3 and love it. Given that most netbooks have the same basic components and configuration the main difference is their build quality and the aesthetics. The S10-3 has very solid build and the aesthetics of the design are great. I have the red one, no finger prints, looks sharp. Works great and very good battery life.

For most of the consumer grade entry level netbooks, the build qualities are pretty much the same between the different brands. The real differences lie in the software package, after service support, distribution channel (i.e. retail store or online), branding and price.

Do you mean they're the same spec or same chassis? I feel like the two have design differences that set each other apart.
I'm also considering the Samsung NB30 just for the rugged design and build quality but also the Acer AO532h for the battery life and value but having a hard time differentiating them apart. -
Samsung netbook usually have the better LCD, quality wise they are pretty much the same.
These cheap netbooks are manufactured by only a few contract manufacturers, so there is a chance that the Samsung one is made by the same company that makes the Acer one.
Acer netbooks are pretty rugged, and it feels about the same quality as the Samsung one that you mentioned (LCD hinge wise the Acer one is better than the Samsung one).
Don't believe everything that the online reviews say, as they are not directly comparing the two netbooks side by side, also you don't know what sort of vested interests they have in posting the review. -
That makes sense and the Acer AO532h is priced the best. My friends Acer netbook is pretty solid so I guess it just depends on your luck.
Ideapad S10-3... worth the extra 100?
