I am about to buy a laptop, and stuck between the 530 and 730.....

I will use it as a desktop replacement for the most part......mostly for work and internet and some occasional 3d applications and videos

on one hand, the 530 offers a faster processor, and is easier on the wallet. the 730 dark blue is a good size, but screen resolution is a bit low for that size screen.... the orange is beautiful, but a bit over my budget. further more, at 1920 icons will be very small and hard to read........

what are your thoughts on these two machines... looking to buy one today while the promotion is still going ...

    thanks,

first off, you should call them to get your final prices. They'll usually give you much better deals than what's offered online. I wouldn't buy either one of these unless it was the orange Y730- 405332U or the one above that. It'll be much cheaper if you upgrade the ram yourself.

If you need any mobility, the smaller the better.

what kind of screen is on it? anti-glare or glossy? i am very confused about this as i want one with the frame less screen and a fast processor?

I know that you post in your review that it is glossy, bust most 530s are advertised as anti-glare on the lenovo website and i need to know what that means.......

    thanks,

It is anti-glare, I made a mistake in my review. That means that if you look at it from angles you won't see a reflection.

On Crysis, I am guessing above 25FPS @ 1280x200 Low settings (except Model Detail is at High).

But, as an anti-glare, it is still glossy and frameless? I don't want an Old-school mate lcd....

can you also confirm the videocard model number? is it a G or a GS?
i'll make up my mind this weekend ...

    thanks for the valuable feedback...

In your original post since you didn't mention any gaming needs, you'll probably be more than fine with the 530.

It is a GS, which is slightly better.
Also, no matter what, this laptop model's screen is frameless.

    and glossy?

basically, i am trying to understand the difference between the full glossy, and the anti-glare models....

Either way, Glossy or Anti-Glare, the screen will be frameless. Period.

I reccommend the Anti-Glare, as there will be no reflection. With glossy, there will be a reflection.
