According to the specs on Lenovo's website, the new Y730 models feature DDR3 memory clocked at 1066MHz (aka PC3-8500). Usually, I trust manufacturer specs but I know Lenovo has made a few mistakes in past product spec listings. There is still debate over the video card in the Y710 (it has an ATI Radeon HD 2600, but whether it's an XT or not is uncertain...even though the Lenovo site shows it as the higher performance XT). For the first few days, the new IdeaPad S10 was also listed as having the new Intel X4500 IGP, but it now has been corrected to show that it actually uses the two-generations-ago Intel GMA 950 (as do most netbooks).

The new 15.4" IdeaPad Y530 specifications show it using the same old DDR2 clocked at 667MHz (PC2-5300), so it made me wonder if the Y730 really is using DDR3 (which I hope it is). If so, I wonder why the Y530 isn't using DDR2 @ 800MHz at the very least....

Anyone know for sure? I'm trying to decide between the Y730, an HP dv7 and Toshiba P305 and would like to know for certain before I make a final decision!

    Thanks!

They keep an udpated pdf on their website with the system specs for the IdeaPads. It also says the 730 uses DDR3. And lists DDR2 for the 530, so it's consistent with the website. Anyway, check it out. The specs are a lot more detailed than the website (and probably more accurate).

If the link doesn't work, search the lenovo site for "ipbook.pdf" and download the most recent version.

Anyone else noticed that the Y730 is shipping with Vista64?

I haven't decided yet but leaning towards the Y730. Now that HP's coupon is gone the price jumps up for the Dv7t though I'm sure another HP coupon will show up soon.
