With not many reviews/pics online on Y560s, I'm posting a brief description of this laptop with some high res. pics. Just focusing on the basics of this laptop, not getting too technical. My 1st review ever, so be generous
I ordered my Lenovo IdeaPad Y560 (4GB) on July 1st and it got delivered on July 8th. 2 day shipping ($25 extra), pretty fast!
SYSTEM CONFIGURATION: ($950+)
IdeaPad Y560 Laptop - 06462AU - Black
Intel® Core™ i7-720QM Processor ( 1.60GHz 1333MHz 6MB )
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5730 1GB
4 GB PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM 1333MHz
15.6" HD Wide LED 1366x768
Hard Drive 500GB 7200 RPM
2 year inhome + complete laptop protection
Overall Exterior:
Trendy and smooth looks, feels solid, Nice pattern on the front lid, separate slots on the back to replace individual components and not that heavy for a 15.6". Weighs almost same as my old 12" DELL XPS1210.
Front, RHS view, BACK, LHS view:
It's got almost all the ports that I commonly use. With the heat sinks on the LHS, the LHS keyboard gets a little warm but almost 90% of the keyboard top is very cool. I'll be getting cooling fans anyways.
Body, Screen, Keyboard and other features:
Love the keyboard, a lot more functions/features on the north of the keyboard like frequently used programs, ziplock the screen, power management, etc. The orange colored keys look nice. But, I don't appreciate Lenovo switching the Ctrl and Fn key positions. Also, I hate that Lenovo didn't include LED lit keypads in such a high-end laptop. Am I missing something?
I'm having a horrible time with the touchpad though, it's kind of jerky, does things I'm not asking for and wouldn't let me navigate easily when I want to.
The JBL speakers are awesome, pretty good audio quality for a laptop. The location of the volume up/down/mute keys is very convenient.
Desktop, Veriface, Bloatwares:
SCREEN, resolution - The elephant in the room:
I don't know if my standards are low, but I didn't see any noticeable issues with the screen so far. No obvious grains, dancing pixels, ants etc. May be I haven't looked carefully......or maybe it was blown out of proportion?
Below are comparison pics btw Y560 and my old DELL XPS1210
Y560 - video quality looks pretty good:

I'm still figuring out things on this machine, will update if I find anything interesting. HOPE THIS HELPS!

Thats a powerhourse of a machine with the quadcore processor!!! Congrats and nice job on the review and pics.
Jealous of the JBL speakers with Dolby technology. -
Hey baggi, can you post a picture of the adapter that is used on the ideapad of yours?
-
I don't know if this helps but to check the graphics and processor abilities, I opened several HD youtube videos, Hulu videos, Blue ray movie files, 3D CAD programs simultaneously and still all the movie files played without any lag/glitch. -

Nice, I love my 560. Definitely no regrets in getting this laptop. Plus running cod mw2 at 4x antialiasing... smooth as butter. Love it.
Definitely a powerhouse machine. Can't wait for Crysis 2 when it comes out later in august. -

Hi, Baggi. So how's the notebook been functioning?
The Lenovo forum is swarming with people raging about unfixable display bugs and I'm afraid to buy the notebook now! (My model would be the Y560 (0646-2EU), but still the dreaded Y560 series)...
Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! -
I have seen the 1st link (useful) but it's not a 1st hand owner/user review discussing screen problems, etc. The rest of the reviews are not that great or for other models. -
Cons: The mouse pad acts a bit weird sometimes but has cool features like pinch&zoom and rotate, the mic quality is average and the auto light sensor that adjusts the screen brightness is annoying. I was disappointed to see no LED lit keyboard.
Overall, I'm quite pleased with this laptop. See what your alternatives are and the price, then just go for it.
It's just a gadget not a gal.......you can always send back the laptop if not satisfied -

Great!Baggi,Thanks for your hard job! ^_^

Great review! Thanks!

Has anyone posted a review with peak temps during gaming? I understand this and the smaller 14" feel very hot but I haven't found any comments at all about whether or not it overheats or hot hot things actually get inside.
