I've already decided that I am going to buy this ultrabook, but I am still having trouble figuring out what the function of the mSATA drive is. The customer support said it was only a cache drive, whatever that means, and that the max size was only 32 GB. Ideally, I would like to install a 128 GB mSATA and put my OS onto it. Somebody please help me and tell me if i'm on the right track or completely off the mark. If so, correct me please. Thank you for your time.

First, M.2 and mSATA are different form factors and require different connectors. Lenovo configures their mSATA drives as cache drives. But you can install a larger capacity drive and use it as your primary/boot drive with OS and apps on it. My guess is that most of the mSATA drives currently on the market would be compatible with the U530. My personal preference is for the the Crucial M500 series 128GB or 256 GB mSATA drive.
