    Hello,

Does anyone know if the U330's memory-card reader will support SDHC?

I couldn't find the tech specs on Lenovo's website :( If anyone can find it, please link me!

    Thanks!

edit: My co-worker just told me that SD readers will read SDHC cards because SDHC are the same cards, just 4gb or larger. I have an 8gb Class 6, and I want to verify what my coworker said. I don't want to stick my 8gb SDHC into my U330 (can't wait for it to arrive!) and ruin either device (or both!). I just found out that the U110 uses Ricoh R5C833 reader, which the U330 will probably be using as well, and I'm wondering if anyone knows anything about this reader? I spent extra money for the Class 6 so I would like to know what performance I can expect... will I be transferring at low rates with the U330 reader (assuming it will use the same one as U110's)?

    Thanks!

you're co-worker is incorrect. Just because it has an SD slot does not mean it'll support SDHC. However, on a more comforting node... now a days i think any new designed laptops/computers/readers will support SDHC just cause they're so darn cheap now and it's basically the "norm" with SD. There's even MicroSDHC.. so you can imagine how popular the SD High Capacity are.

If you want a quick answer.. call them tomorrow / try Lenovo Chat online and they'll answer you quickly and of course post back here with the answer for everyone =)

Thanks for the response, AznRacer. I did try calling Lenovo several times, and no one has any documentation on the U330! It's pretty weird. One person didn't even know Lenovo carried such a model. They asked me "You sure you don't mean the U110, or the Y330?"

I'm skeptical about the Sept. 22nd ship date... I probably won't get this thing until Halloween.

Sept 22. with out a doubt I would be skeptical also. I ordered an X200 at the end of August.. I won't be getting it until probably end of September.

Interesting.. I would recommend you to try again.. because you do get a couple bad apples when you call. I been getting mixed information also.. and i had to call a couple times and weave out the bad apples.

But ya... I would be surprised if it DID NOT support SDHC.
I know the x200 reads SDHC.. so ya... dunno what else i can say lol

I ordered mine on 8/20. My original ship date of 9/10 has been pushed back to 10/7. So yeah, expect to wait about a month.

Zerofire, you're so lucky! And thank you for your reply :)

I'm sure a lot of people in this forum would love to hear your impressions and see some pictures if you have them! I know I certainly would :) Can you post some please?

    Specifically,
    1) what is the screen like? does it have the glossy-on-glossy screen like the U110, which causes "graininess", "shimmer", and massive reflectiveness? Here's a link to the review (you'll have to scroll down to the "Screen" section):
    http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=4401
    2) what is the build quality like? Lenovo is supposed to be great in that respect; were you disappointed at all? Does the keyboard flex? I heard some of the new Thinkpads unfortunately do flex.

    Thank you so much!

    You're welcome backpack,

I will post some pictures after work in a few hours time. The time zone here now is 3.40pm.

Unfortunately the U330 screen is very reflective, same like all glossy screen. That's the disadvantage of a glossy screen. There is no graininess at all. Wow the U110 grainy screen is very bad...Not sure what the reviewer of the U110 meant by "simmer". I will post the picture tonight so you can judge by yourself.

The build is good imo. Design of the notebook and the feel is very classy (good for showing off :)) No flex on the keyboard but my work T61 keyboard is still better, the feel is different. Old generation ThinkPad keyboard is the best in the world. Not sure abt the new ThinkPad though.

U330 is using synaptics for it's touchpad, which is good unlike the other budget ideapad which is using Alps touchpad. Same sensitivity as the T61. Use to have a Dell M1530 tocuhpad which is crappy with a alps touchpad.

I'm very glad to hear your U330 doesn't suffer from the grainy screen. Very comforting. Do you think the glossy screen is manageable in high light conditions such as classrooms or outside?

No the pictures are not up. Either the poster got busy and wasn't able to post pictures (as he's logged in since that post was made) or he just doesn't have the laptop.

Not a big deal, as there are a ton of pictures of the laptop out there, but it would have been nice to see the screen.
