Good question. I suppose Lenovo is banking on the fact that there are others like me that will pay a premium for beautiful design, excellent hardware and Windows OS. I personally would never consider a Mac, although I appreciate their hardware.

I think the quality definitely is there. The styling is appealing while not being an Apple rip-off. From what I've seen so far, it will be a great product. Its really up to how they advertise it and the size of the market for premium consumer ultraportables running Windows for its success. -
As much as I like Lenovo's design, the one thing that is holding me back from getting the U400 is the screen. I am waiting for a good HD+ panel with decent viewing angle and contrast ratio. I am also looking at the Samsung 7 series which has the HD+ screen, but I am waiting for the reviews to come in before I commit to a new device.
I think apple are doing very good in the display department, I just hope Lenovo could atleast try to offer a more compelling option on their notebook. -
Amazon has the lower spec version of the U300s
Amazon.com: Lenovo U300s 10802BU 13.3-Inch Notebook Computer - Graphite Grey: Computers & Accessories
and the U400
Amazon.com: Lenovo U400 099329U 14.0-Inch Notebook Computer - Graphite Grey: Computers & Accessories
Still waiting for more official details. I did just notice that Dynamism.com (the first site to offer pre-order) changed the ship date from Oct. 18 to Oct. 28th. -

It's a shame they didn't put the X1 keyboard on the U300, U300s and U400.
