I was curious to know if its ok if I get a ram chip that is 5300 667 compared to the pc2- 4200?

I believe it will work, but since there's a pc4200 512MB stick soldered to the board, it'll probably run at PC4200 speed. I wouldn't pay extra for it.

Is that 5300 667 memory ddr2? I don't know too much about memory speeds (there are a lot of them) but for some reason that makes me think it is ddr2. If that is the case it will not be compatible. Please post more details of the memory you are looking at.

The X41 uses DDR2 memory.

EDIT: I stand corrected. I figured since the X41 was of a similar generation as the T series that they used the same memory. I was wrong, X41 does use DDR2...interesting. -
All the Sonoma based ThinkPads do like the T43 does too.
