I followed the online tutorials advice to remove the cd-rom, replaced it and now the touchpad doesn't work, only the trackpoint mouse and buttons work. I am not seeing the touchpad listed in the Device manager under Mice and Pointing devices, only the IBM PS/2 Trackpoint if listed. I double checked the touchpad connector on the mobo is intact so I cannot figure what the problem is?

There is a setting in the BIOS to disable the trackpad. You might want to to check it. Try a Linux disc. That'll tell you if it's software or hardware related.

Thanks, it was hardware related, seems I had placed the touchpad connector the reversed and incorrect way, works now.
