Hi guys. Newegg has a great deal on a refurb T60 with docking station for $225. Newegg.com - Recertified: ThinkPad T Series T60 Notebook Intel Core Duo T2400(1.83GHz) 15" 1GB Memory DDR2 60GB HDD 5400rpm DVD/CD-RW Combo W/Docking Station
I bought it and would like to swap panel with the 1600x1200 IPS.
Is there any parts like an inverter I need to buy or just the panel? If so which part #?
Thanks.

It should be a straight swap. I'd suggest getting the Hydis UXGA panel(13N7076) . It was the most common UXGA panel used in the T60. I think they did use some IDTech panels too, but they were left over from the T4x days. They will work, but the EDID needs to be flashed for it to work. You'd need a T4x or R5x to flash it. I've put the Hydis screen into a R60 and R60e. While not exactly the same as the T60, they're pretty close.

As always great info ZaZ..much appreciated.
This seems to be it.

Also I was wondering if I could pull ram out of toasted R61i and use it? Both only have 1GB, if I could combine it to 2GB it would fit my needs. I already have a SSD (Gskill sniper) in the R61i I could probably swap that too. -

Got better? I already bought it tho so probably you shouldn't tell me.

The memory should be the same. -
You could also try installing a QXGA IPS 2048x1536 panel.
Model: IDTech IAQX10N or IAQX10S -
qxga is not drop in upgrade.

Got it installed from link above and pretty happy. Has a bit of color shift like a PVA but it's 100x better than TN not quite like a NEC desktop monitor tho. Total for a "new" laptop was $405. $225 for laptop and $180 for IPS 1600 x1200.

nice mod. Where did you get the screen? is it from ebay? and was the LCD new or refurbed?
-
Yeah from ebay, some guy out of Taiwan. Took only a week to get here though. Granted it's not the fastest laptop or fanciest features missing features like HDMI but it has enough horse power for what I need it to do and looks fantastic. Best screen outside of $3000 elitebooks with dream color or some tablets but then you still have crappy wide screen to contend with. I am really happy, finally.

wow thats alot of work to get that screen. damn
