Are IPS/flexview screens currently available on T60's? (not T60p)

According to lenovo.com, the three available options for T60's are:

    14" XGA
    15" XGA
    14" SXGA

Does any of these utilize IPS technology? Nowhere on lenovo's website is there any mention of flexview or IPS.

The main reason I'm interested in an IPS screen are the wide viewing angles, which should cure the 'bright on bottom, dark on top' issue that I notice on 95% of the laptop screens I've seen. (This is only noticable when the screen is dark, such as when watching a DVD).

Coming from a 3 year-old Sony with a 1400x1050 display that has perfect blacks across the screen, I'm hoping that IPS is the answer for a replacement. Do you guys think this is a reasonable expectation?

if i remember correctly, flexview is only on the thinkpad sxga 15" lcds...there are some t60s (not t60p) that have the screen.

There is also 15" SXGA+ ... all of those (and only those) utilize IPS + Flexview

Look at one of the NBR reviews here for T60 to see some pics of the flexview screen for yourself (side-by-side some non flexviews)

Regardless, you may be disappointed in this sceen for movies because it is matte not XBrite like yur sony.

If you get it, it will only be on the 15" SXGA and UXGA models.

Thanks for the replies. Where can I find the 15" SXGA model? It is not configurable at lenovo's website and I can't find it on newegg either.

models 20075RU, 20075TU, 20075SU, 2623DCU, 20077DU, and 20077GU have 15" sxga screens. Unfortunately they all seem fairly expensive. There are a few more options if you look at the t43s also.

Is it true that Flexview is easily found in T43 rather than Lenovo's new core duo T60?

I'm just going to assume that you're looking at the USA website... but the Canadian website does indeed state if a model has a Flexview screen.

The rule of thumb is that if it's not mentioned, it isn't there.

As for screens in general, I'm pretty much in the same situation as you are. One of my current notebooks is the Fujitsu n6010 which has the best LCD I've seen (either notebook or standalone). Unfortunately for me, I'm ruined because everything else now seems underwhelming.

What I used to consider to be adequate brightness just doesn't look very good anymore. I think SkiBunny's right: "Regardless, you may be disappointed in this sceen for movies because it is matte not XBrite like yur sony."

My next notebook will probably be an R model Thinkpad. I've just accepted the fact that the screen will not be as good.

i dont think so, but the t43 *should* cost less if you look around or bargain (even tho it doesn't cost less at most stores)

    Add to the list of models having flexview: 2687M8U, 2687M9U, 2623DCU, 2623DDU, 200772U 20079GU, 20079FU, 20079EU

The T60p is configurable online with a flexview screen .... add $170

Stimp, do you know that Fujitsu canada has some nice looking s7000 series on promotion/sale this week for back to school. I'm talking $400 off. I saw one on tuesday with dual core at notebookoutlet for $1399.
