Yesterday I installed IE7 on my V100, everything seemed fine until I ran Rescue and Recovery to create a system backup. It encountered an system error and quit. I restarted and retried a few times but nothing changed.

I decided to try the new version of Rescue and Recovery. I actually downloaded the version 3.1 from Lenovo a few weeks ago. But the original version 3.0 ran great on my system so I didn't bother to update.

After I installed the new version and ran it, it still got an error but this time the program didn't quit and it managed to finish the backup process. I don't know whether the backup is a good one or not. Later I'll give it a second try.

Because IE 7 is relatively new, I haven't found any valuable info from internet. Hope my info can help some here.

I do not think that was necessary, Fred. Whether or not this information was relevant to you does not judge whether it was post-worthy or not. (If you were not being sarcastic, I'm sorry but that doesn't seem to be the case.)

    Thanks for the warning, drmax88.

Wow, i just stopping by here and read the post.

I have EXACTLY the same problem you have. I have Z61m and have updated the driver and the program to the latest.

I run Think Vantage Rescue and Recovery and it encounter an error. But then it continuing the backup until its finished. I do not now whether IE7 have anything to do with this error because i have not done any backup prior to IE7 update. Because (i think) IE7 is a major upgrade maybe it is a good idea to backup a whole system.

This is my first backup process and so far the experiencing is not great. That preliminary error makes me hesitate to really try to recover with all the backup DVDs.

I ran the Lenovo System Update (version 2) and found an update which seemed only applicable to R&R (Rescue and Recovery) 3.1. After this update, the error message is gone and the backup runs well now. And by default, the R&R 3.1 seems run in an accumulated way and only backs up changed files. Because the 1st backup with 3.1 got error, I deleted it and redid a full backup. It went very smoothly.

Another thing to note: R&R 3.1 doesn't recognize the previous backups by version 3 on the same usb disk, the worse thing is it seems to make them unusable even I start my V100 with a startup CD created by R&R 3. I actually have backups at different stages so that I have choices to go back to a specific status. Now they're all gone. Other than that, R&R 3.1 seems better.

Matt, I just noticed today that you gave me negative reputation points for my comment.

First, I am sorry to see that you misunderstood me. When I wrote "Thanks for sharing" I meant "Thank you for posting your experience, I also hope it can help other people." Please note that three days passed between the post of drmax88 and my response. No one else bothered to thank him so I took the initiative and did so.

Second, if you look at my posts on this board you will find that I am not given to sarcasm. I may respond in a certain way to obvious spam or similar posts ( take this thread, for example), but generally I try to help others as much as I can. For me, the golden rule applies: "Do to others as you would have them do to you." Again, sorry for the misunderstanding and I hope that drmax88 took no offense because none was implied.

If you meant well, then I'm the one who should apologize. I intend to restore you reputation as soon as I can. (You were the last person who's rep I have altered so I will have to alter someone else's before I can restore the reputation you deserve.

I too am sorry for the misunderstanding.

    No hard feelings,
    Matt
