What type of screens to the IBM/Lenovo thinkpad screens have, preferably the T and X series.

Do they have the standard matte screen like a standard lcd screen or laptop from 4 years ago.

Or do they have the glossy finsih like the sony x-brite and so many other companies now have.

IBM/Lenovo laptops are geared towards business and other work-users. Because of this, they do not even offer the option of a glossy screen; they all have matte screens.

Some of the Lenovo branded notebooks do have glossy screens.

    But not Thinkpads, right?

    Anyway, head to this page:

    http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/TFT_display

At the bottom of the table look at "Flexview/FFS IPS TFT Display". Those displays are the cream of the crop of Thinkpad displays, and are superior to the regulars. Very few laptops are being equipped with IPS displays. Even most of the glossy ones that make you say "wow" when you first see them still use cheap TN panels which show their inferiority when you look deeper.

No. MaxBright is only available in certain configurations of the Z60M (WXGA resolution).

Interesting, why wouldnt they let us choose max bright or regular?
Can anyone compare usual screens with Max Bright ones for WXGA and whether its worth getting ( I suppose one can call and order?).

    Thanks :)

well, if you read the z60t review on this site, they do have a pretty thorough comparison. But the z60t review was done with the LCD set on "Normal". Ironically, the "Normal" setting makes it look dim, while "High" setting makes it look normal. Haha. Just figured this out today. And I have to say I'm a lot happier with my solid performing LCD on my z60t. Probably still not as bright as Maxbrite.
