Has this happened to anyone else? About 10 minutes after downloading and installing the latest updates through the ThinkVantage System Update utility, my computer ports have been continuously scanned by an IBM facility located in Durham, NC. About 13 consecutive scans were detected by my firewall -- 1 every two minutes, or so. The IP addresses are all from the noted location.

I'm wondering if the downloading of the ThinkVantage updates is causing this. Can anyone offer some insight?

Actually, it happens after the entire update process has been completed and the computer has been rebooted. There isn't any reason that IBM would be scanning for drivers/updates at that point -- if indeed to two occurrences are linked at all.

I was just curious to see if anyone else had noticed any correlation between getting updates and being scanned.

FTP data connection, I'd guess. But since you don't provide any details one can only guess.
