    Hi guyz,

Just got hold of me T43 last week. Pretty happy with it, no doubt :buyIBM:

But when i try to use the IBM rescue and recovery software, i get this error:

    Invalid Backup path (parameter 2)

I got no clue on how to continue. I did search the IBM forums for this but to no avail, most people don't have probs with it. Either that or i din look hard enough (i apologize if that's the case).

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    * EDIT * I wasn't specific on my problem...my mistake. I meant when using the rescue and recovery to create recovery disc. I downloaded the client security version software whcih updated the rescue and recovery module. It still gives me the same error.

    Thanx !

When I first created the rescue disc some files were unpacked first in order to create disc. I suspect the image was unpacked to be on a format that can be burnt unto a disc.

The path for the 'Create Recovery Discs' app is C:\IBMTOOLS\utils\spi\reccd.exe.

The path for the actual image is C:\IBMTOOLS\rrccd\IBMRNRUS.ISO.

I don't know what causes your problem but see if you can locate these files manually.

    Hope this helps.

    thin-n-light,

    Thanx for your advise..
    I found the IBMRNRUS.ISO file

    it ended up in c:\prog files\IBM ThinkVantage\rescue and recovery\rrcd\IBMRNRUS.ISO

hmm..could it be after i updated the software, it still tries to burn from the old path? not sure though.

I'll try to burn a copy for myself tomorrow.

    Thanx though. appreciate it :)

It has taken 9 CD's to backup my thinkpad. Press the Access IBM button and follow the kindergarten instructions.

    Thanx for your time. :)

I made all of my recovery discs from scratch, 9 cents each. Wish I had the fancy writing on my discs, lol...

Just curious, does all of your notebooks come without partition (excluding IBM partition, of course)? Mine was partitioned to c: and d:

probably that's why my rescue and recovery wasn't working..this was pointed out to people in thinkpads.com

    just a thought

Could this be the old problem of partitioning? If your computer is native to a "C:" HDD and a "D:" CD/RW then splitting your partition into two would give you a "C:" & "D:" HDD and move your CD/RW to "E:". If this is the case then your Rescue is looking to write the "D:" and not finding the CD/RW drivers. This can be manipulated but I would only recommend a Expert do it, and use a high quality Partition program.
