I just bought a Western Digital pocket 120gb USB drive at Costco. Is it possible to create a new set of recovery discs using the external WD USB HD to create my new set of recovery discs?

I've already got one set of 13 CDR's backing up my system. But my Thinkpad wants another set. I don't want to waste another 3-4 hours burning a backup set. I do not have the DVD burner, just the CD-r burner.

Will the thinkpad backup to another external drive??

If you have an external drive you could do it that way. I don't think you can do it, but I have been wrong before and will be again.

I'm not too sure if R&R will make the external drive bootable (meaning you can have the drive connected and R&R will boot just like how using the ble ThinkVantage button on startup gets you into the hidden R&R partition), but you should be able to access the recovery backup on the external drive after getting into R&R from boot. I personally haven't tried this out as I use Acronis, but you can create the recovery set on an external harddrive.

    cheers!

That's what I was thinking all along.
