hi,
anyone tried to contact IBM's toll-free in the last 2 weeks? had call them a number of times, but was put on hold for a looong time (until i hang up) everytime i asked to get to their student service section. am interesting in pursuing IBM's back to school program, but haven't got a chance to talk to their CS. feedback anyone?

I called them last week twice; once to order the restore CDs for my new T42 and the 2nd time to register it. Both calls were answered by the 3rd ring by a real person after going through their menu system. It may be the support lines for back to school program could be getting pretty busy since it is that time.

thanks for the feedback, guess you're right. their school program support is probably having the busiest time. will try to call them again, hopefully this time i can reach them.
btw, did some purchase simulation. "bought" 2 items with 2 availabilities "in-stock" and "within 2-4 weeks". if i do purchase 2 items with different availabilities, would it be possible to request ibm to ship the one "in-stock" first and the "within 2-4 weeks" later? any experience in expediting the "within 2-4 weeks" would be appreciated. I have no idea how that works with IBM, I've always bought my thinkpads from 3rd parties that had them in stock so I did not have to wait at all. Plus they were cheaper than from IBM direct. Try www.mwave.com
