    Hi guyz.
Im looking for an ibm that have the maximum battery life. I'll use the extended battery .
I've found that the thinkpad T60 and do about 5 hours with 9cell extended battery. Here are my requirements

    14 -15" display
    intel dual core processor
    DVD writer
    512 RAM DDR or DDR2
    40-60GB disk
    budget is about $2300

The main thing is the battery life. I'll be using Adobe photoshop or Corel draw and play mp3 with either of these 2. So i need to know which ibm is known for its good extended battery.

The 15" T60 will have less battery life than the 14". I'm off-setting the reduction in battery with my purchase of the 2007-72A with the Ultrabay battery coupled with the 6-cell. You'd probably score better battery life with the 9-cell AND the Ultrabay battery.

The x60s with the low voltage Core Duo and eight cell battery has the best life, but that is a 12" notebook. If you get the T series, there is a modular battery if you don't need the optical drive. You should get at least six hours on medium settings with the nine cell and modular batteries. I do on mine and it is a 15" notebook.

I'll take the 14" display. I also need a DVD writer to i can't use an optical bay.
However i would use the extended battery . T60 uses a 9 cell extended battery . Is there is any other extended battery that is compatible with T60 and works longer than T60's 9cell extended battery.

You're going to be using the dvd-burner while out and using battery? They are hot swappable, so you can quickly switch between the optical drive and the modular battery. I have a dvd burner, but 95% of the time I use a blank placeholder. Optical drives are not friendly on the battery life.

But regardless, the 6 and 9-cell batteries are the only other options. If you want more than that, you can always carry an extra battery.

9-cell + modular allows me to use the computer pretty much all day.

Yes by all means swap out the optical drive when you are not using it and you'll get an extra 30% battery life.

will the optical bay battery stick out from the laptop because it will look awkward as the extended battery will already stick out from behind.

Also is there any difference b/w optical bay and modular bay or its the same thing.

And how much will this swapable battery with DVD drive, costs.

No the modular battery does not stick out. It sits flush. Optical and modular bay are the same. You can probably get one for around $100. It is a three cell battery so if you have the six cell battery, you'll get 50% more time. If you have the nine cell about 30% more time.

I guess it would be quite easy to swap the modular bay with DVD writer and vice versa. I won't have to open anything right?
