I am looking at two notebooks from IBM. The ThinkPad Z series (15" screen) and the ThinkPad T43. I use the system primarily for business. I am wondering what folk think about these two ThinkPad series.

Business? I'd lean towards the T43.

Also, don't rule out the R52 - it's more of a consumer grade laptop, but so is the Z60m (the 15" model you're looking at). Also, it's very closely related to the T43.

What types of things will you be doing with it? If you are doing Excel the widescreen Z will com in handy. The FlexView screen on the T43 is very good.

 Hi,

I have a R52 you can buy cheaply ! I would NOT recommend it as the screen (15" 1400x1050) is really bad... you have to be positioned exactly right to get a useful contrast and viewing angle is bad as well ! I'm also considering change to z60m or t43 but haven't heard anything about the z60m (high res) screens yet!?

Which proves that IBM does have non-Flexview 15" SXGA screens...

I'd recommend the T43... the dim screen on the Z60m leaves much to be desired...whereas the (Flexview) screen on the T43 has been reputable.
Also, the Z series from IBM/Lenovo is still quite new... no one really knows how great the quality is; the T series has been around for a while...you'll know what to expect.

 :buyIBM:
IBM Z (15") or T43
