Hey i recently ordered an IBMx22 off ebay, and am having a small issue with installing ram into it. I removed the back tray and stuck my PC100 256MB stick in there, and it did not post. When i removed the ram it posted fine. So then I put a 128 MB stick of PC100 in there and that one also did not work. Fruesterated as can be, i discovered that the bus of the CPU (800 MHZ-p3) was at 133 Mhz, so i figured that i needed PC133 ram. I dug up a stick of 128 MB PC133 RAM and stuck that in, and it still does not post. But it works fine without any ram in the slot, just using the onboard RAM. Am i doing something wrong? Is the ram possibly incompatable with the laptop? Does anyone know? Ive already emailed the ebay seller, hopefully i will get a RMA.

As long as you're using a PC133 144-pin SODIMM you should be fine. It may be that the brand you're trying just isn't compatible for whatever reason or it could be that slot is damaged. You might order a module from Crucial to see if that works.

Thanks Brian for the reply:
I purchased 512 MB of PC133 from samsung and it started to work, i guess there was some sort of incompatability with the others RAMs that i tried.
