I have just bought one of these laptops second hand and I love it but I didn't get any systems disk with it.

What should I install on it from IBM. I've had a look around their site and find it very confusing and not very user friendly, well not to me :)

Also I can't seem to find any user manual to download.

can anyone help, and does anyone know what that 'Thinkpad' button is supposed to do ?

    Thanks

Go to IBM's website and into the support and downloads sections. Type in your machine type where it says to, it should list all kinds of info like drivers, manuals, specs, parts, etc. The machine type should be on the bottom of your Thinkpad.
