I upgraded this unit from XP Pro to Windows 7 ultimate and now the audio volume is half of what it was, any fixes please? Looking on IBM's site I am not seeing an audio driver for windows 7?

I dont think windows needs one.

Then what else would explain the loss in volume?
-
The fact that the speaker volume is set to 50%, which is usually where Windows pegs it. Go into the sound properties and adjust the speaker volume. You shouldn't need a driver. Vista has the sound driver for my X200t. I would expect the same of the R60.
-
I had tried that and double checked again, I went to Control Panel->Sound->Adjust System Volume, all 3 levels in the Volume Mixer at 100%. Even in the SOUND Properties, under SPEAKERS-High Definition Audio Device->Properties, the level is at 100%.

Did you try adjusting the volume in whatever program you're using, say iTunes or Windows Media Player? Try a Linux Live CD. You needn't install it and it'll probably tell you if it's hardware or software related.

Strangest thing here, I loaded the vista audio driver from IBM's site, now I am getting the volume I need but only from my music software [Virtual DJ], windows medial player's volume is all the way up but still low volume so I cannot understand this?
-
That would lead me to believe it's software related, but I've no idea what it could be.

Right click on the speaker icon in the taskbar, choose playback devices, click on "speakers," choose properties, enchancements, and "loudness equalization."
Don't know if that will help but give it a try -
Have you tried loading the Vista drivers?

Often you do need manufacturer drivers to make sound cards work correctly. Vista drivers may work and worst case you can use system restore to rollback or simply uninstall them if you run into issues. -
Yes, I did all of the above, even tried the Klite Codec package, still windows media player or youtube does not play at full volume as before, I have spoken to another tech and he says the same thing, that when loading win7 this does decrease volume but it just depends on the laptop itself if it has the proper drivers to work with win7.
