Without a clue as to your needs or budget, it's really kind of hard to help.

I don't see anything wrong with it, if you want to buy, just buy it.

    it's really sort of simple.

Ask a relatively specific question, get a specific answer...
Ask a vague or inscrutable question, get a variety of puzzled responses.

    Want to try again?

I have it but with the X3100 graphics memory. 1G of RAM is unsufficient for Vista plan and simple. I'm using a clean install of XP and works beautifully.
There are some bad quality screens on the T61. I heard the Samsung is the best one, mine is a Toshiba LCD I think with severe backlighting.
Build quality is so so, the T8100 is fast and cool. The X3100 is sufficient to play old games.

I think the reason why you didn't get the answer you're looking for is because you did not specify your needs, i.e. what will you be using the notebook for? what kind of battery life do you want? what kind of weight? etc.

It's hard to just comment, because a laptop that is desirable for you may be undesirable for someone else, and vice-versa.

There are many machines which I recommend to other people based on their needs, which I would never buy for myself!
