IBM ThinkPad/Lenova Hijack

PostJust ran TrendMicro on my T60 after weeks of bizarre computer behavior. I am suddenly not Administrator. Can't access logs now but did notice a logon to an area I could not access. The hidden 32 bit partition? I'm running XP Pro SP3 on NFST partition. Unable to return to factory condition. Memory is depleted. Ran Webroot Essentials just found tracking cookies. Can't make changes "access denied". Any ideas? OS is NT. Help appreciated.

Good job posting your HijackThis log; people should do this more often when they need help.

I don't see anything glaringly malicious in your log, in fact, I don't see anything out of the ordinary. This isn't a Lenovo-specific issue, so I think it would receive more attention from people that can help if moderators moved it to Windows OS and Software,

 

If you burned a set of product recovery disks, then you can return to factory condition from them. If not, you can ask for a set from Lenovo support. They might charge you $50. From what you have said, it probably is not worth trying to clean (can you boot into safe mode?). It is either a trojan, or problems with the TPC CSS module (if so, can probably be fixed in safe mode - look for help on the Thinkvantage forum).

 

I want to echo what bsodder just said. a.) Both he and I don't see any sign of a beakin b.) To be more precise, there is nothing unusual about things being run from the NFST petition accept that things are run at all. Usually, that nfst usually stands for nt file sytem blank, not a indictement in itself.
