hmm what is the x1300/15000 comparable too? I was all set on that Asus Z62j, but an IBM 14" with x15000 seems tempting too

well you better make your move right and get the IBM. You'll never even take a look at the Asus again, well, once in a while maybe.

X1300 is probably a beefed up X300, while X1500 is a beefed up X600. A shame they didn't put an X1600 in - that would be a big upgrade in the graphical department.

It says even stronger casing. WoW!! That will be awesome. I am also glad to see that they haven't rounded of the edges like they did for the Z series. Does anyone know if the new TouchPad design is for the better or worse? It sure looks less impresive.

Yeah, the durability is what originally sold me on Thinkpads. (I've always been one of those worriers that the Panasonic ads appeal to--I still laugh at the images of the keys and internal components just flying all over the floor.)

Could anyone confirm that it has new style power supply like Z60? (Not compatible with the old ones).

If this is true, I will not wait buying the T60 and go for T43

EVDO or UTMS (yep, there's a Cingular WWAN card now, too) antenna. Just like on the Z60 models.

the systems they had at the show were not the finalized systems, they told me 2-3 weeks before a review unit final release arrives and I usually get a machine about a month before the first real orders start arriving. So I'm guessing 1 - 2 months with the likelihood being closre to 2.

Not to nit-pick, but I'm not liking the white buttons - optical drive eject, lid release, and volume +/-. Changes like these seem arbitrary and inexplicable. If they wanted them to stand out they should have stuck with blue, or even a medium/dark shade of grey.

Other than that I think the T60 has just moved to the top of my list :)

Still waiting to see what HP does with their biz notebooks.

I'll nitpick--that antenna discussed by Goren and bhtoefr does sort of protrude and destroy the clean lines (the "symmetry").

But heck, its a work machine, not art, right ?

I never had a notebook but don't like being stuck in one place all the time.?
    :decision:
The T60 has been recommended to me. What does it offer that others may not? Battery life, weight?
I'm always upset that I can't view, touch before buying but IBM seems to get away with it nicely.
    When is it available?
I was about to get a Sony Vaio but see such a short battery life listed. :(

People generally recommend a T series notebook for the good build quality, battery life and weight that makes it quite portable (if you get the 14" screen that is, it'll be about 5.4lbs). If you order through Lenovo.com they have a 30-day return policy so if you really don't like it, you can always return a machine, but yes that is a hassle. Many people that buy them first experience using them within a business as they're so popular in the world of business -- that's how I got my first ThinkPad at least. Really, any business oriented notebook is going to be impossible to find in a store (Toshiba Tecra series, HP nc series, Dell Latitude series) but they're all nicely built notebooks that transcend the build quality of consumer notebooks (in general). The T60 will be available and shipping in about 1 - 2 months -- leaning heavily towards the 2 months and even then no guarantee. The current T series available new (T43, T42) are great too and worth a look.
