Is it possible to get a T43 for under $850? I want one and the lowest price is at least 4 figures on the website. I tried ebay and I can't figure out how these ppl are selling T43's with decent upgrades for under $850. Can anyone help me out? Thanks.

a lot of the Thinkpads on Ebay (from reputable sellers) are refurb or returned units, if you read the whole auction. These are often only offered with a 6 month IBM warranty and a 3 year third-party warranty. Depending on configuration, I would imagine you could find a decent T43 for less than a grand, since the T60s are widely available now and offer some food performance improvements.

Thanks for the clear up. Does Lenovo offer coupons like Dell to lower the price of a thinkpad? I never see any Lenovo deals so where does everyone buy their IBM's?

strikeback03, did u mean one could find a T43/T42 for under a grand from lenovo ?

Lenovo does not do coupons like Dell. They are offering rebates of $100-200 on certain top selling machines. You can probably get a new Core Duo T60 right now around $1k on the internet if you willing to do the rebate thing.

The paradox is that on Ebay one indeed can figure a brand new, sealed (not refubrished/returned by any means) T43 for less then 1k$. I bought mine (2668-6ZU) for 1050$ about 5-6 weeks ago (brand new, Lenovo sealed box, no fuss at all) and still continue to watch Ebay for T43 deals - its not all that uncommon to encounter deals on a brand new T43 from supposedly reputable sellers for under 1 grand. Few were sold lately within 850-900$, no problem to figure a machine for within 900-1000$ range.
Many of T43 with Intel GMA 900/950 graphics go for under 1k$ on Ebay, ATI x300 usually adds some amount, but still can be found at those prices of track Ebay carefully.
