Hello! I have an universal adapter for my IBM T43. I accidently put the 19v currency and plugged in. Nothing happeded. I saw then that I needed the 16v. Then I plugged in the 16v one and it says on the adapter that it supports IBM t-series. Still nothing happens. It doesnt smell wierd, it doesnt blink on the led lights or nothing.

Before, I was logged on windows with the laptop and then it said there was 0% battery so it turned off. Still now when I push the button sometimes the led's blink and the computer tries to start but then dies. It's because the battery is dead. But why doesnt it respond when I plug the adapter in? Why doesnt it recharge?
Was it because i put 19v through it? :( :(

Is it possible to repair it ?

Do you have a link to the adapter you're using?

As a consolation, if you hurt anything it's probably just the battery.

Do you have access to any of the other machines which the adapter is supposed to support?

    Nope!

But I tried another universal adapter at a local store. The computer didn't respond to that either.

So is it worthwile repairing? I have no guarantee on the machine.

    Its the one with:
    Centrino technology
    Pentium M 1,86GHz
    512mb ddr2 pc4200
    40gb hdd
    ATI Radeon mobility X300 64mb
    CD/RW DVD

Im so pissed/angry/unhappy because it wont recharge.

The worst thing I would have to do is sell it off cheap for spare parts or if someone wanna buy the whole thing cheap.

But most of all i'd want it to work.

    :( :(

    Got a new question.

Does anyone know if the power from the ac adapter goes through the laptop first and then to the battery, or through the battery first then to the computer?
A guy told me it might be the battery that is not working properly.

Well, my T60 can function without the battery. I don't know what kind of action the presence of the battery causes, however.

You're working with a third party adapter here, don't be sure it's going to work. Some little change on the part of Targus or Lenovo could have caused incompatability in some models. Your best course of action is to either get your hands on an IBM/Lenovo made adapter for the T43 as your next troubleshooting step, or send the machine back to Lenovo for repair.

Okay. Thanks for a decent answer. I'll try to get an adapter from eBay.
