    IBM T42 screens

    They are available in 14" XGA or XGA+, or 15" XGA, SXGA+ or UXGA. Prices vary greatly, ranging from $1300 to $2300 just differing by screen size and output.

    I do not need the 15" but where is the sweet spot in this array.

    well you didn't list it as an option, but I used a 14" screen with SXGA and that's my favorite place to be. 15" is too big for me but XGA on 14" screen won't fit enough stuff on the screen for my needs.

    The 15" SXGA and UXGA FlexView screens are much better screens than the others. As noted they are a little more bulky.

    And consume more battery too. In part for being brighter.
