I just received a T42 as a gift and try as I may I cannot adjust the brightness of the screen. It appears dimmer than what I am used to (Dell,Gateway...frankly all others). I have gone to controls+ without success. I know I am missing something fairly simple. Can someone help? Thanks.

Have you tried Fn+Home and Fn+End? This is the normal way to adjust brightness on ThinkPads.

You can also adjust brightness (for both battery and AC) by setting up a new power profile using ThinkVantage power manager.

    Hope this helps.
