    IBM T40 no screen?

    This laptop powers on and there's a symbol under the screen which stays lit, it looks like a symbol of a crooked Z, anywyas, I tried connecting a separate monitor to the laptop but still no screen, any ideas please?

    If the external monitor isn't getting any signal either, then you likely have a loose GPU. The T40 series is affected by motherboard flex, which causes the solder securing the graphics chip to crack, resulting in a "loose" graphics chip.

    If you can try applying pressure to the GPU, you may see that the monitor will suddenly start working.
