I have a friend of mine, who wants to upgrade his IBM...

So far after I google around and search around the forum, so far I know is the ram can max up to 2Gb with 1gb x 2 DDR PC2700...

But i discover when I was looking at pictures of opened R51, it seems that the socket of the Centrino is those removable type...so i was thinking...will the motherboard itself can swap in a faster Centrino or possible others???

Thanks for the help out!

With enough skill anything's possible, but for the average user it is not. Plus laptop motherboards are highly specialized which makes finding something that will work very difficult. If you're looking for a performance increase a faster hard drive is usually a good place to start.
