I got my T43 couple weeks ago and I'm in love of it (especially the FlexView screen).

But seems to me something is different in the Add/Remove Programs than my other XP installations. Some programs do not have Add/Remove buttons next to their entries. And I have a lot of unknown programs installed. I'm not sure if they're pre-installed by IBM or just some garbage left on some programs I installed and uninstalled.

    Examples:
    ccCommon
    mCore
    mDriver
    SPBBC
    Wallpapers
    mMHouse
    mXML

After some investigation I found out some of them are coming from Norton AV, but others I don't know...

They're quite annoying cos I like to keep my Add/Remove program clean. I have tried the regedit way and couldn't find these entries in the registry. Do you guys have these too?

Yes, I did consider it. But I have so many things installed and configured on this laptop for home and work I'm a little hesitated.

What most concern me tho is the factory settings, if I do an OS refresh I'm not sure if I wanna use the recovery CD or a standard XP CD with SP2? What about the necessary drivers like the trackball/wireless or the harddrive protection thing?

I built a lot of desktops for myself but this is my first laptop, I usually reinstall XP on my desktops every few months but I'm not sure what's the best thing to do on my Thinkpad...

Any help or opinion is appreicated.
