since i am not an IBMer or lenovo employee, the best deal I can get as a canadian is via visaperks.

I also know I can become an IBM or Lenovo shareholder to get even better discounts, but Im not one right now.

i am interested in potentially becomming a shareholder. How do you become one then? Anyone with experience? how to purchase the share, whats the rule, how many stocks do I need?

is there a difference between being a shareholder of IBM or lenovo? since both have shareholdder purchase plans?

I don't know about shareholder offers, but you can sign up for the e-mail offers from the Lenovo website. I got 40% off my T410s through a coupon code from RedFlagDeals.com: Canada's Largest Bargain Shopping Community! Find Canadian Deals, Coupons, and Freebies! in December but Lenovo also had 40% off for e-mail subscribers about a month or so before that.

The current offer is up to 30% off on the L412, T410 and X201 with coupon code CAPVALENTINEDAYSALE.

I would recommend RedFlagDeals.com: Canada's Largest Bargain Shopping Community! Find Canadian Deals, Coupons, and Freebies! as well but it seems they have dropped Lenovo from their site recently.
