I just recently ordered for work a Z61M -- see my sig -- the ship date is currently 12/5/2006. How accurate has that been recently?

Also, any gotcha's I need to know about this machine?

    nice one...

call and tell them you'll be needing them ASAP so that you can have them earlier. they don't wanna have customers banging their ears about their machines not arriving on time

All you need to know is that the Z61m is a great notebook. No gotcha's.

    Thanks for the info!

Here's the response I got from Lenovo:

"Please note that we have checked on the status of your order. The Lenovo
ThinkPad Z61M that you have on order with us is currently on backorder and should become available to ship out by 11/30/06. If there is an urgency to this order, please contact us at: 1-866-42-THINK (84465) option number 2. A representative will be more than happy to assist you in selecting a similar alternate system that is currently more available. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused."

I'll give them a call, but I'm inclined to wait at this point. I'm not sure what they could offer me that is similiar to what I've already ordered. Oh well.

They tend to be conservative, but can have delays. My R60 was supposed to ship on 10/26, but I had it on 10/8.

I bought my z61m a few months ago, and I received it before the estimated ship date. Granted, that was a Core Duo though. Not sure how the availability of Core 2 Duos are, but I'm sure it's comparable.
