Is it better to keep this runtime, or download another like J2SE.
I want to know because some programs seem to have a problem detecting the one from ibm and wanted to be sure that i could just delete it. Or is it no problem running two java runtimes at the same time?

I downloaded the Offline Installation file of Java Runtime Environment Version 5.0 Update 6 from http://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp. I installed it without having uninstalled the IBM Java runtime first and I don't have any problems. When I go to time.gov, the Java by Sun is loaded after I select my time zone.

Question for the experts: Can the IBM Runtime Environment be uninstalled or does this affect the functionality of any other software, for example the ThinkVantage programs?

To answer my own question, I uninstalled both Sun Java and IBM Java because I could no longer use Java in Internet Explorer. Java still worked with Firefox, however. After I had uninstalled both versions of Java, I reinstalled the Sun Java Runtime from http://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp and now everything works fine.
