Hey guys and thank you for viewing my post XD.
I recently acquired a 755cd thinkpad (with floppy drive)
from a recycling facility. I fired it up and it worked everything on it to.
To the point the case on this thing looks awesome and the keyboard is nice so I want to upgrade some of the internals and keep the case. I understand I will not be able to make it much better with the current motherboard and was wondering if there would be a newer motherboard that would fit into the laptop that fits the case with all the com ports with ddr3 and supports the battery/ hard drive caddy. Is there anything on the market like this? also If i cant do that What is the max hard drive size this thing supports.

ps.how do I open the caddy?

    thanks -H4ck3r1nC

Uhh...are you intentionally asking if your 12 year old laptop is upgradable to the newest specs? No, no new parts are going to fit into that kind of chassis, just buy a new laptop.

I would like to replace all the internals if I can find parts that fit.

I mean if you are the most pro modder in the world, I'm sure you can work something out, but if you were that pro, you might as well build something from scratch that resembles a 755 instead.

The amount you'd spend in parts if you could, would equal the cost of an entry level notebook which you'd be better served by with a purchase of said notebook.

    :)

Unless, you're getting started in the spy business and want your old notebook to look like a decoy but is actually a modern functioning notebook.

Or... wait! Are you trying to steampunk? :D

I don't think that laptop can take in "newer" part of the current technology. If I got that laptop, the only thing I might want to try it out is if you can install Linux in it and from reading the Standard Features from this unix, the answer is no.

Here is some info about the laptop you own
    Category:755CD - ThinkWiki

All I can say is you can try to update the OS software to 95 if it's still on 3.1. The only other stuff u can try to update is the HD but that will be difficult as the part is now difficult to get in today technology.

Just keep it as a cool old laptop or maybe use it to play old games from that period of time really.

Laptop case are not like Desktop cases, all the motherboard are custom made for each model. What you suggest is not possible, unless you know how to build your own motherboard.

It might (*might*) be possible to get a UMPC board or some-such to fit in there, but you'd have to do one hell of a crazy modding job to get the keyboard, drive, and screen squared away. And if you have the EE expertise to do that, you're probably not asking for help on NBR. ;)
