in Chinese Customs - (technically, the Chinese still have control over the shipment because it is considered to be still in China although it is in Kentucky until it clears Customs).
It is supposedly a full container load (however big a container from a cargo plane is) of laptops/tablets that the Chinese Customs want additional paperwork on before releasing the entire shipment to UPS for delivery to end customers in the USA.
So, if you're experiencing a delay on your laptop/tablet, this may be the reason why.

I placed an order for the following on 7/17/05. Today I got an email indicating the order was shipped via UPS 2 day on 7/26/05. Hope that means I will be getting my laptop this week.
P M 750, 512MB RAM, 60GB 5400rpm HDD, 14.1 SXGA+(1400x1050) TFT LCD, 64MB ATI Radeon X300, CD-RW/DVD-R Multi-Burner, Intel 802.11a/b/g wireless(MPCI), Modem(CDC), 1Gb Ethernet(LOM), UltraNav, Secure Chip, 6 cell Li-Ion battery, WinXP Pro :buyIBM: -
Received it today. Fan is noisy when it runs. Machine gets a little warm on the left side, where the fan is. Screnn also has a pattern on the top, that looks like a jigsaw puzzle, looks as though there is something wrong with the screen.

pattern at the top that looks like a jigsaw puzzle? yeah, that would be an indication of a seriously wrong LCD if that's the case.

I live in Lexington, KY and got some weird message like this when tracking my order with UPS. The thinkpad arrived in 6 days though -- pretty impressive coming all the way from Hong Kong!
