I'm through bugging the 'What Should I Buy' people, and with my recent purchase felt that I should come in here and introduce myself, as I'll most likely be harrassing y'all with stupid questions for the next few years. (Making the reasonable assumption that the T60 will last a few years.)

Well here's what I got. No word on when it will be shipped, but based on what I've read I'm expecting to see it sometime next month.

    Lenovo ThinkPad T60 model 2613-EAU
    • T2400
    • 14.1" SXGA+
    • ATI x1400
    • 512 mb RAM (I'll buy another stick when the laptop ships out)
    • 100 GB 5400 rpm HD (free upgrade)
    • 8x DVD rw dl (free upgrade)
    • 9 cell battery (free upgrade)
    • Intel pro/wireless 3945 ABG
    • Free shipping (current Lenovo offer)
    • $1,550 after taxes

I was hoping to get the Flexview, but that comes with about a $550 premium. Since I'll mainly use this for writing papers and doing research, I'm sure the 14.1" screen will be nice enough.

    Thanks for the welcome!

Ah the waiting. Looks like Lenovo just charged my card, so I've got what, another 6 weeks to go?

Not sure what to do with my time now. I've looked at all of the instructional videos on the website. Studied the parts list. Spec'ed out a z61 for kicks. I suppose I could resume doing actual work...

The best thing is to try not to think about waiting for you T60. Things seem to ship faster when you forget about it.

I'm very curious to see what you think of the screen quality as I am also considering a 14.1" SXGA+ T60.

Wow, three days? I'm keeping my fingers crossed for that kind of luck.

In case my wait is more typical (e.g. longer,) my fiancee just got (like ten minutes ago) a T42 from her job- so I can mess around with that for a while!

And, I'll certainly let you know what I think of the T60's screen quality, gmoney.

Wait, I thought Lenovo only charges your card when they actually ship the product? Or is this some type of pre-authorization charge?

...maybe you will get lucky and they will ship it soon.

I have a T60 14.1" SXGA+ (see sig) and personally I think the screen is great. I read a lot of posts on this board and others about potential issues with the screen before purchasing my computer but so far none of them have materialized.

I think the resolution is perfect for this size screen and I find the brightness, sharpness, contrast, etc. to be fine.

If there's anything specific you want to know I'll be happy to try and answer your questions.

    Thanks,
    Rob
